We had our dodge intrepid power steering done back in December. At the beginning of this week our car died. The one mechanic said that it was because when the installation was done something was put on too tightly and caused the adjuster to crack. The place that did the power steering said that it was a breaker that was broken and had nothing to do with the repair. Any ideas as to who is correct. Trying to figure out who should pay...us or the company that possibly did the damage. Thanks.

"Had power steering done" doesn't mean much. Was the rack and pinion replaced? The power steering pump? A leaking hose, etc? What adjuster cracked? The power steering is a hydraulically-controlled mechanical system. A circuit breaker is in the electrical system. Without knowing any unusual details, the two systems have nothing in common. If they did, why was there no problem for two months?

Every mechanic fears the "ever since" syndrome. Ever since you worked on my car, I have this new problem. Every time there's a new problem we look for someone to blame and that's always the last person who touched the car. Most reputable shops will take care of their mistakes but if they deny responsibility, especially after another shop looked at it, they must be pretty confident the new problem isn't their fault. Based on the limited information, I would tend to agree the car just developed a new problem, especially if it is electrical in nature. The only way to know for sure is to diagnose the new problem and figure out what caused it.
