2004 Chevrolet Malibu slowed down and stopped

I was driving dowm the road all of a sudden my 2004 chevy malibu stared to slow down and it eventually stopped and wouldn't move, but it continued to run after about 30 min it started to move again like nothing ever happened.

Details did not post so does engine still run? Rev up? Like in neutral?

The engine still runs, just won't move after about 30 mins it will start to move again. I have taken it to several shops they cannot find the problem, because when the car gets there it's like nothing even happened with the car, it runs and moves with no problem. When I got it home it ran for about a week and then it stopped again. When the tow truck got there after about an hour the car started to move again. This is a mistory.

Suspect transmission problem have trans scanned for trouble codes best to goto a trans shop or dealer. Does check engine light come on?
