Within the last 3 days the car has begun making violent jerks and thumps after coming to a stop and then accelerating. It feels like the car cant shift I honestly thought the transmission fell out after the last thump. It also occurs when just slightly applying the brakes and then back to the gas. I have checked all fluids, had all carbon build up burned off and had hoses and wires inspected.

Only 1 code appeared with the engine diagnostic test and that was P0801, would a bad EGR valve cause the issue?

Can you reconfirm the trouble code? P0801 is not listed in our database for this vehicle.

†P0801 †Reverse Inhibit Control Circuit Malfunction is found for generic description and is a fault with the transmission inhibitor switch, not EGR system.

P0401 is a fault with EGR and can afffect engine performance but not the transmission violent jerks.

Since you are not sure of the code, get it checked again.
