Oil consumption

2004 Impala in between oil changes(3000 mi.)It goes through 1.5 qts. Of oil some times more when I drive it (wifes car) I've not noticed any smoke out exh. And dry down under. Haven't pulled a plug yet. Antifreeze is clean.

That's not a lot of oil to consume in 3000 miles when dealing with a high mileage motor. And very slow oil consumption doesn't always blow smoke out of the tail pipe. I wouldn't worry about it. Cars age just like people and there's only so much you can do. If it begins burning a quart a week, then consider a rebuild/replacement.
