Hello, I have a different type of question. I have had a 2004 Cadillac SRX for almost 7 months. It has approx. 101k miles on it now. Last month I find out that it needs $1500 worth of work on it (includes ignition coils replaced, gasket/seals, and possibly needs the catalitic converter replaced which would increase the cost even more). I owe around 11K on it. After doing a lot of research I am finding that this vehicle is potentially very high maintenance needing work often. Any and all work on a Cadillac is very expensive. I want to trade it in and get over the headache, but wonder if I should get the repairs done first or not. Would it be worth it to increase the value? What are your thoughts?

Does the vehicle run ok? I would check to see what you are going to get for a trade without mentioning to the salesperson what is wrong. Being that 2004 was the first year for the SRX there is going to be some issues. If you spend 1500 on it now you may not get your money back. But if you fix the problems it has it could last you a while.

Why does it need all ignition coils, which gaskets and seals, and if it does need a converter(s), that may be under warranty. Let's start with what the symptoms are?
