I am changing the tail shaft extension bushing Toyota told me use flipig red instead of a gasket where the extension housing meets the transmission. When I pulled it apart there was a gasket. So do I need to try and find a gasket or use the fipig red that I bought.

Ok I have changed the tail shaft extension housing bushing, I replaced the oil seal and the yoke shows no damage and I still have a leak where the drive shaft goes into the tail shaft. Any ideas?

Aside from excessive movement in the drive shaft or a groove in the yoke I cant think of why its leaking or a bad new seal.

Well after 2 years, 3 seals, a replaced bushing, and paying for expert advise. I have discovered there was a Toyota service bulletin issued in 2012 for a leak problem around the plug that is pressed into the yoke. Toyota's fix replace the drive shaft. The inexpensive fix, remove the yoke, run a small welding bead around the plug, replace the u joint, reinstall the drive shaft. Changing the yoke caused vibration in some. I guess if you change the yoke you need to have the drive shaft rebalanced. Hope this save someone the trouble I have had.
