2003 Saturn L200 not starting

So does it crank and not start or no crank no start? Also with the key in the run position is the security light on solid or flashing?

It will crank but no start .... I believe the light is flashing ...my boyfriend seems to believe the car is junk ... but he's not a professional ovisly. .. I make my living in this car so I really need it but I'm also pretty broke so I hope it's an easy fix

So does it really only have 30,000 miles on it like you said on your question? I really need to know about the state of the security light.Is your gas gauge working correctly as well as door locks keyless entry if you have it anything else acting weird or not working? As far as no starts on those cars there is bad body control modules pass lock sensors crankshaft position sensors.most common is pass lock sensor and body control modules.

There is over 250,000 miles on the car .... I just went and checked the light stayed and for about 3 seconds and then goes off completely. .. gas gage works fine same with windows and locks .... everything was fine went our next day to start it and it just cranks .... my boyfriend said it sounds like it's spinning fast when you try to start it if that helps at all .... one other thing the heater does its own thing ....it will go cold and I have to keep messing with it it's done that since I got it plus the dome lights do not work unless the key is turned but shut off when the car is started

Sorry also here recently if I put it in park and leave it running while getting gas or something it will not go into drive unless I go all the way threw the gears and it will "slam" into drive

I would never leave a car running while getting your not supposed to do that for safety reasons. Also if it sounds like its cranking over faster then usual then the timing chain could have jumped or broke.I would like to see if it would start on some carb spray then check spark and then check compression. Do you have someone that could help you out with that? If i gave you the instructions?

He said he will have to get the spray tomorrow. .. it's 130am where we are ... he ask how you would check if it's getting spark ? He knows how to spray it he says ....

To check for spark on that you would have to unplug the coil pack then remove the 4 10mm bolts the remove the coil pack assembly. Then put a spark plug on one of the boots then plug the coil pack back in.Then touch the end of the spark plug against the engine watching for spark while someone cranks the engine over.
