2003 Pontiac Vibe engine bay

There is a opening that sucks in air but its not the air intake. Its wide open and idk what it is. Its right below the battery and I put my hand over it as I revved the engine and it sucks air in. I would like to know what it is. Also it's connected to a house that runs under the driver side headlight.

Are you sure that isn't the air intake for the engine? Check to see if the hose leads to the air filter housing. If it doesn't (and I think it does), please upload a picture so I can see what you are dealing with.

Let me know what you find.

It connects to the air filter it was just hard to see, but is that supposed to be pen like that?

Yes, it is to be open. Air is drawn through there, through the air filter, then into the engine. It is normal.
