Stuck in park

2003 grand prix se is stuck in park and is makes a clicking sound in steering column when tried to shift. Any suggestions? When drove and car was shifted into Park, it will not release into any gear. Car will start and shut off, just not shift. When lever on shifter is pushed, you can hear a clicking noise in the steering column.

Just to turn the key on shift to neutral then start the car, and dropped into drive, see what that does

Pull the center console and free up the shift lock tab.
