I just got this car two days ago. The day I got it it drove smooth. Today it started running rough while idling and not shifting properly. The check engine light is on and starts blinking. It does not want to shift out of first until I let off the gas and then does the same thing with every gear after that. I was told it could be the ECU or a transmission pressure control solenoid. But I have no clue?

Hello, I am Danny,

Having the check engine light on shows that an engine and or transmission code is stored. If you have the codes read and get back to us with the information it will help us diagnose the problem. If you do not have access to a scanner/code reader your local auto parts stores will check for free. I have attached a tutorial showing what is involved. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Here is a guide to help with the vacuum leak but I have to ask because it sounds like the exhaust system is plugged which can make a vacuum like noise:

Here are two guide can you please run down them and report back?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-a-catalytic-converter

Please run down these guides and report back.

Cheers, Ken
