I have Nissan Altima 2003 and it is making a griding sound when I accelerate and sound only comes when I am picking it up from a slower speed and then stops when I go high. The service engine soon light turned on today. Can someone guide me what this could be?

Service engine light is on !
1st step should check for codes
most part stores can help you in scanning for codes
as for the grinding should have it check as sounds may be an indication of an internal engine failure and or not so much as an exhaust shield
have it checked
