front brakes

i want to change fron brake pads on mitsubishi galant 2003 and want to know if i have to remove the caliper bolts or just the pin and i cannt locate the pin

Remove only the lower pin bolt, item # 1 and you can flip the caliper upwards to gain access to the brake pads.

You might need a screwdriver to compress the piston slightly to flip the caliper if the rotor edges are thicker than the inner portion where the brake pads seats.

Remember to remove some fluid from the master cylinder if it is full as compressing the piston can cause the reservoir to overflow.
