2003 Mitsubishi eclipse, check engine soon light it on. How much time and money my I have to invest inorder to fix the problem?

As far as a price, it is hard to say without knowing the problem. What I need you to do is have the computer scanned to determine which trouble code is stored. That will identify where the problem is coming from. Most parts stores will scan the computer for free.
