- how do you remove defrost vent cover 1997 - 2003 Jaguar XJ8 due to dash board area rattle

All of a sudden, I think due to cooler weather in FL. I am getting a pretty loud rattle from the dash board area. The jag forum mentions it being the defrost vent, but on a different model. I wanted to take off the vent cover which runs the length of the top of the dash board. There is a ball / round object in the middle of the vent cover. I am guessing that there may be a fastner under the ball, but I don't want to force anything, who knows it could be a sensor.

That will be a sensor, proberbly the ambient light sensor, I do not have anything in my information to hand that shows this removal, you may have to get a mechanic to take a look first hand, if I could see it, may be easy to work out.
