Knocking from engine in 2003 Axiom

Hi I have a 2003 isuzu axiom that knocks when I start the motor and quiets down when it warms up( 5 min). A shop told me that I have to replece the bottom end and he sounded kinda sketchy and just wanted the work if that makes any sense. I need help. I really don't have the two grand to buy a whole new motor

Could be a sticky/varnish piston wrist pin. Heat loosens it. Does your oil pressure read right?

Or lifter/s leakdown-makes a ticking noise but when engine gets to normal temp. It fades away till the next cold start
