I have 2003 F-250 6.0 turbo diseal
when I accelerate it"s slow with a lot of black smoke until I reach a speed of about 35-40 mph
sometime it cough or sputters.
I change the gas filter and the air filter with a modified new filter and housing from O'reilly auto part.I pull a lawn trailer and it smoke with the load until it get up to speed

Probable causes of an engine running rich are as follows:

1. Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.
