EGR Valve

My van is idling rough at times and will stall sometimes. It drives fine at regular speeds but if I step into it, it hesitates but at the same time the rpm's go up. It doesn't seem like it's having trouble shifting but I'm not sure so I can't rule our transmission. It the transmission is going I will most likely scrap it so I wanted to try a couple of other things first. I see that the EGR valve could cause the rough idle and I'm not sure about the hesitation. In any event I can't seem to find a replacement EGR valve on line for the 2003. I seem to be able to find every other year but 2003. Could it be the EGR valve and if so how do I find one?

Whether or not you have one could be determined if it si a California car or Federal emissions. My manual shows one for he 3.3 in 2003, but also says "If equipped" in notes.

Can I DIY; replace the above sensor? 3.3L engine. My check engine light on. Took Auto Zone and they confirmed the EGR sensor po404 and po 406. They said I could replace myself. I am intermidiate level skilled.

Sure you can. Locate the unit as pictured, remove two bolts, electrical connector and an exhaust hose nut.
