I replaced my oil sending unit, filter and oil and the oil pressure gauge is still acting up. It is going from 40 to zero and then to 20 then to zero. Then, the stop engine light comes on at zero. So, if it is not the oil sending unit then what could the problem be?
Thank you. Scott Rountree, Virginia

Hello,

Have you made sure that there is adequate oil pressure when the engine is running?
You can check the oil pressure using a pressure gauge.
As you have new sensor, the issue could be a faulty wiring that is triggering the incorrect reading at the gauge.
It could be also due to having faulty oil pump, that is not producing appropriate oil pressure.
Test the oil pressure. This engine should have 12 PSI pressure at 12000 RPM.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
