I have a 2003 S-10 with 4wd. I can drive in 2 wd and 4wd but when I push the button to put it back in to 2wd the button blinks between 4h & 4l and stays in 4h until I go to neutral then it will blink between the two and to to 2wd and will not go into 4wd until I clear the code which is 2. I have changed both the transfer motor and the module (module three times). My mechanic has searched for a loose ground without luck. If I clear the code I can go straight to 4wd but when I get it back into 2wd I am done until I clear the code. My mechanic said to get a "new" motor and try that (I got the last one from the recycle lot) other than that it would have to be in the transfer case itself.
Any thoughts?

The ground is on the passenger side of the dash, it could be loose or you have afuse in the underhood fuse box blown. It lmay be the encoder motor on the t-case as well you need to see if they are puttin gpower in and out. It may be teh ATC fuse in the underhood not sending power as well. That sends power to the t-case module. Or it could be a simple poor connection. Try dielectric copmound on your connections and see if that helps.
