If a hydraulic lifter is sticking will it make a noise like one that has no oil and if I change the oil could it fix the problem, and also could the use of half a quart of transmission fluid added to the oil and idled for about 30 min. Help possibly, then change the oil? I lived far in the sierra mountains ( pioneer, Ca.95666 ) and it wont stop clattering.

Before you try the tranny fluid-do an oil pressure check using a mechanical gauge could be an oil pump or engine bearings reducing the oil pressure not getting all the way up to the valvetrain-
