2003 Chevrolet Prizm starting

Im tring to figure out what is wrong with my friends dads 2003 Chevrolet prizm it will start in neutral. But not park. Im thinking that it could be the neutral saftey switch. Or even it might not be faualty, it could just need to be realigned. But I thought I would ask for your guys opinion before I go and do anything derastic.

Sounds right to me, Good job most customers never try neutral. I would just replace switch because even if adjustment is slightly off the contacts are probably burnt and in need of replacement anyway. Most often the adjustment is done in neutral and checked afterward for all positions, don't forget to check back up lights too.
