My car makes a loud roaring noise when I turn it on after sitting for a while, what could it be?

It just started making this loud noise after that I'm not sure how to describe. It's not revving; but it gets really loud but after it warms up for a minute it goes away. I can drive to and from work and school with no problems or noise and turn it off and on while it's warm and it's fine. But after it sits for a while and cools off and I turn it back on, it makes the same roaring noise again. Any suggestions about what it could be?

When engine is started from cold, the cold start system would be working and this would cause the engine rpm to increase. The increase in the rpm seems to be causing something to roar louder than normal but without knowing what is causing the noise, it is not possible to provide any definite suggesstions.

Roaring noises that occurs only when starting from cold can be caused by beltings, pullies, engine vacuum, clutch fans (if equipped) exhaust. You ned to find out what is causing the noise.
