Hi there,

My car wiring is burnt due to self starter, now I want to replace ECM(engine Control Unit)
I find one but confused with the OEM number I got one from the accidented car with the same model engine size and with manual transmission,
but the OEM number is change on the new one. Which is mentioned on the ECM.
But all the wiring is same.
I also took complete engine wiring.
My question is. It is must to get the same number or any ECM will fit in all.
My car VIN number is. WVWZZZ3BZ2P249683.

It may be a superseded unit or if the engine size and transmission type is not identical it will be a different unit, your dealer can advise if there is an ungraded ECU with a different part No.

Dear Mhpautos,

Thank you very much for your reply.
The engine & gear size are same.
Engine.2.0
Gear. Manual 5fwd.

But all the number printed on the unit are change. So that's why I am worried. If I change it then how can I flash and program it.
It seems very expensive more price the car.
I love plug and play parts.

I am living in Saudi Arabia and the authorized dealer are very expensive.
So that's why WV cars not that much popular in the Saudi Arabia.

But I love WV cars or German cars so I always keep it.

I found spare parts from the junk yard in a very cheap price. And fix it my self.

I am a diploma holder mechanic.
So it is easy for me to replacing the parts.

I feel that you should be able to fit the control unit with out any problem if it is from an identical engine/ / transmission car, you should not have to do anything.
