I purchased a 2002 VW Beetle that didn't have an owners manual. When I removed the little black round cover inside the trunk I couln't figure out how to get to the place to replace the bulb.

Can you advise?

Here is what I have on replacing the bulb.
Removing

* Remove rear light.

* Turn bulb holder in direction shown (arrow) and remove from housing.
* Remove bulb from holder.

Installing

CAUTION!
Do not touch the glass portion of the bulb with bare hands. The moisture and/or grease from fingers that evaporates on the bulb during operation, can cause the glass to cloud over.

* Install in reverse order.
* When installing, make sure bulb holder engages in housing by turning in opposite direction shown (arrow).

Thanks for the reply but that brings out another question. The external light doesn't appear to be able to be removed without taking off the star allen wrench bolts that hold the whole back quarter panel on. Do I really have to remove those to access the back of the light?
