Can I tap a new heater line nipple into the water pump instead replacing the pump? It seems to have corroded out. The same thing happened to the oil cooler line nipple. I know this is not ideal but I can't afford to pull the timing belt and stuff off right now.
The inside of the hole is nice and smooth and there are no parts of the previous nipple left.

WHY NOT!

YOU ARE GONNA USE A PIPE TAP?

INSURE NOTHING IS IN THE WAY AS YOU TAP IN.I LOOKED AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE PIC ONLINE, IT LOOKED CLEAR TO ME

"LARD". YES, LARD!. COATING YOUR TAP, AS YOU TAP, WILL CATCH A LOT OF THE CHIPS

. BUT BETTER STILL, WHEN TAPPING ALUMINUM, LARD WILL KEEP THE THREADS "CRISP", WITHOUT IT, ALUMINUM TENDS TO SORTA LEAVE CRUMBLY THREADS, LIKE THEY GET ALL RIPPED UP HERE AND THERE

LEMME KNOW HOW IT GOES
