Battery hold down Bolt size

I had the hold down bolt break off on my van. Now there are threads showing. I’m hoping I can get old bolt out with a vice grip and I bit a new rubber chuck, but I cannot find the bolt size for the life of me.

Hello,

The best thing to do is once you get the bolt out of your vehicle, would be to take it down to your local hardware store. Hardware stores usually have a great selection of fasteners, hose clamps, brass connectors for vehicle plumbing, etc. Go to the fastener section and they should have a sizing card there. Find the hole that the bolt shank fits through snugly and there it is. Determine if the thread pattern is coarse or fine and go get one the proper length. It usually should be under a dollar. The bolt was so rusted in I bought a new battery plate kit with hardware was much easier than trying to get the rusted tight snapped off bolt out, and the cost of the kit was only a little more than the chuck itself. Last year it became apparent that the chuck had broken and fell out when I had to replace a battery that a pulley on my serpentine belt had grind ed through the battery into the cells. I feel much better with it fixed properly rather than zip ties thank you.
