Why can't I open the trunk?

The trunk of my 2002 C230 opens only with metal key or emergency button. Somehow, I'm not able to unlock the trunk from the remote, but I need to switch the key in and then press the latch. Any idea what the problem could be?

U will need to replace the remote. Do the locks work?

Yes, locks work perfectly, I can also use the panic alarm from long distance.

I forgot to mention I bought the car used and I was never able to open the trunk without key. Is it possible to be some fuse misfunction?

I wouldnt just go replacing the remote before you test it a lot of auto parts store like auto zone have remote testers on there parts counters. You test for a signal coming from the remote while you press each button. That would be a expensive guess.

If it opens from the dash button. Youll need to buy and program a new remote.

I would think they would use a solenoid to release the trunk when the remote so theres another possibilty there so please check the remote to make sure its bad.
