Recently, I noticed my car is going through coolant. I just had $4,900.00 worth of work done between the timing belt, etc. The dealership did a free diagnostic and informed me that the coolant bypass hose is split and it would be $400.00 for repair. I just do not have that kind of money and am still recovering from the unexpected $4,900.00 worth of repair. I am pricing the bypass hose at a local parts store and hope to get some assistance with replacing it through the dealership. I do have some general automotive knowledge, so is this something I can do? What are detailed steps in replacing this hose that has to get changed ASAP before I end up locking the engine up. Letting it sit until I can come up with the money is not an option. Please help me. ;0( Thank you!

What size engine is in this vehicle? And what exactly did you have done for repairs? Your bypass hose should be on your thermostat housing. If they removed it, it's possible they damaged it. Without knowing what they did, I can't tell you if they are responsible. Once I know engine size, I can try and walk you through the repair.

Good afternoon,

I attached a picture of the hose for you yo view. It is not an easy hose to replace and requires a lot of tools to do this repair.

I cannot find a youtube video for you on this repair as these are not popular vehicles.

You may need some help from a friend who can help guide you through the replacement. He should have a good assortment of hand tool for this procedure.
