transmission won't go into gear when engine is running

I have a kia sedona 2.9 lx and have trouble getting the car into gear when engine is started and going through all other gears to sometimes it goes away for a day then comes back

brake switch for shift interlock could be failing. or solenoid itself.

did you mean wont come out of park? or trans is in neutral even when put in gear selection?
