Takes about twenty-twenty five minutes for heater and defroster to heat up! After that time, everything is working great.
temp guage shows normal heat range, etc. Radiator doesn't over-heat. Why does it take so long for the heater and defroster to work?

Check the thermostat. If it is stuck open, the coolant would take a longer period to heat up. Coolant would be bypased and not circulating in the heater core.
