Hello

I have a 2002 honda civic ex manual trans with 130,000 miles on it. When the car has reach operating teperature the heat will only work while im driving/moving, the slower I go the less the car will heat, ex, ok on freeway. I have relaced the thermostat but that did not work. I did notice that the coolant would not flow through the resevor and had to be added directly to the radiator. Could you please tell me what the problem might be?

Thank you

When there is insufficient coolant in system, the symptoms described would occur.

The coolant not flowing between the recovery tank and radiator could be due to the following:

1. Bad radiator cap. Check the radiator cap and if rubber around cap is bad replace it. Ensure the hose between radiator and recovery tank is not leaking.

2. Bad head gasket. There is too much pressure build up in cooling system due to a bad head gasket.
