Is it the correct key? If so and the lock cylinder doesn't turn, the only real option is to replace it. It's a little involved, sop I would recommend a Chilton or Haynes Motor Manual for your car to describe the procedure with pictures.

DO YOUR HEADLIGHTS WORK?
IF NO, MAYBE THE BATTERY IS DEAD AND WON'T ALLOW THE SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEM TO WORK?
I'M MORE OF AN OLDER JEEP CJ KINDA FELLER, THOUGHT I'D SLING ANOTHER BONE OUT THERE!
