My 2002 Ford Ranger went from getting about 20 mpg to about 12 mpg. After I had the mass air flow, and coil pack replaced. The plugs and plug wires are only a couple months old. The decrease in gas mileage only happened after I got it back from the shop that changed the MAF, and Coil Pack. They say they didn't do anything else that would have caused the drop in gas mileage. Any idea on what could have caused this?

Why did you replace the mass air flow sensor and coil pack? Was/Is there a check engine light?

Could be running too rich due to the following

Tires and wheel alignment problems could reduce it to include a slipping transmission. Have the shop to read the fuel trimmings live data

1. Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.
