Hi I have a 02 ford mondeo tddi and today there is a lot of white smoke coming from the exhuast and I have no power the car has done 107,000 miles but I dont know when the last service was as it was a private sale is this gonna cost me a lot of money to fix also I can smell burning

White is burning coolant. Have it checked for a blown head gasket.

Silly question but how do you check blown head gasket if you mean is there oil around the head then I cant see any visible oil as engine is quite clean

No, internal. You need someone to do a leak down test to confirm the failure.
