While driving my oil pressure gauge dropped and light came on. My truck stopped running. I had it towed to the house. It still starts but runs rough. Do I need to replace the oil pump? How do I know If the motor is ruined are not?

Check to see if the oil if full first, it does happen then put a mechanical gauge on it and see what it reads it may be just a bad oil pressure switch. But if it runs rough it may be shot
