I have a 2002 chevrolet trail blazer that looses oil pressure 10 seconds after you start it, but if you shut it off and start it back up it does the same thing.I have changed the oil pressure switch and still does the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Physically test the oil pressure, with a gauge at the sensor port. It could have a sticking regulator valve in the oil pump, or internal engine fault that is resulting in loss.

If that is what is failed, it is part of the oil pump assembly, which on your vehicle, is in the front engine(timing) cover.

Dear factory jack, thak you for your help. I checked the oil pressure with a manual gauge and it was doing the same thing. What I triaed, before changing the oil pump was draining about 2 quarts of oil out and adding kerosene and started it up and ran it for a while. When I pulled the drain plug out there was a bunch of gunk in it. I changed the oil and filter and I am now carrying about 60 psi and it fluxuated for a minute and has been fine since then. Again thank you.

That is thinking out of the box, good job. Has the vehicle not had the best of maintenance in it's life?

The woman that owns it, does not realize the damage that can happen to anything when it is not taken care of. Again thank you for your help.
