I was having the head gaskets replaced on my 745i, after the heads were removed, the mechanic said my engine appeared to be dry Does this mean that my engine is blown?

yes it overheated the prior owner had put some type of sealant in in and it would have a little white smoke coming out of the pipe after sitting running for a period of time the mechanic is saying that there should be some type of moisture on the engine...I don't understand that but it was not knocking or anything.
