Starter not engaging. Not a normal starter or cranking sound. Changed fuel pump then a weird loud sound sounded like plastic hitting fan blades or similar then drove it five miles and it will not start. Timing belt is on correct marks. No compression.

Good morning.

The first thing I would do is remove the front cover for the timing belt and check to see if any of the components are working correctly. Lack of compression starts with the timing belt. If the belt has failed then most likely the valves got out of time with the pistons and the result is valve damage and the engine will have no compression.

When you said the belt was checked, did they remove the front cover to inspect?

If the starter is not engaging to turn over the engine then there would be no compression.
