way to open the luggage compartment ?

2001 vw jetta 4 luggage compartment : is there a switch or another way to open the luggage compartment whilst sitting on the driver's seat? I cannot find any other way to open the luggage compartment except getting out of the car and using the key to open it. Am I missing something and is there another way?

is there a remote on the key fob? do you have an owners manual?

If the car has power door locks, then the button/switch is in the
drivers door panel (next to the fuel door flap button).
