Front suspension 2001 Jetta

I have a 2001 Jetta GLX, I know the struts & sturt mounts are out but everytime I hit a bump I hear a rattle in the front suspention does anyone have an idea if this would be because of the struts or maybe a ball joint?

Sway bar bushings are a common source for "knocks" on the front end
of A4 VWs over bumps.

Rattle usually refers to something that is loose and moving due to
vibration. A better description of the sound or an audio file would
maybe be needed to determine what the noise is.
