When cornering or switching lanes at speeds greater then 15 mph the vehicle shifts to the side and becomes very hard to control. It is the rear of the vehicle that shifts and if I go left it shifts right and if I go right it shifts left. My son seems to think its my springs since I have recently replaced the shocks, can anyone please share some knowledge on my problem?

Springs can be weak or broken but it sounds like you have a part that is loose or worn and is allowing a suspension part to shift position. Have the suspension and steering systems inspected at a tire and alignment shop. Besides the obvious loose or broken parts, they will look for shiny or reddish-rust-colored areas under bolt heads. Those indicate parts that are shifting position.
