2001 Volkswagen Beetle cluster wiring harness for panel

Well I paid 1500.00 to get car smogged they told me my car was tip top then I lost the key so had to have car towed to VW to have new key made and programmed. Well 500.00 later I drove it from VW dealer to home approx 3 miles and car died in my driveway and havent gotten it to start since. One month now this is so irritating. They told me they were having problems programming key but they finally got it and they told me I needed to replace my wiring harness in instrument panel when I picked up car this light was on. It was fine when I dropped off. So I paid 2000.00 in last month for car that isnt really worth that and now have no car sits dead in driveway
