This car has been regularly serviced and driven lightly. We are replacing the 10 year old timing belt as a precaution. We don't have a lot of money right now so we would rather not change the water pump at this time. We are not having any problems with the water pump but we understand that changing it as a precaution while we are replacing the timing belt will save significantly on labor costs. Please tell us if the water pump on this car typically holds up well and if you think we should eat the cost of a new water pump now to prevent additional labor costs later.

while mileage is low, you do have the age thing working here which is why you decided to do belt. seems only logical to do pump too. is this being done by dealer? quality parts are a must to guarantee long life and expense.
