My car completly died but I had a brand new battery the terminals were a little corroaded and someone told me to get the alternator checked I did so and it passed so I took it home put it all back on and still wouldnt start. I peeled back the wire on the positive battery terminal and jumped the car and it started right up so I put new terminals on and the power fuse blew out so I got another fuse unhooked the alternator and the car started up and ran fine. So when I tried to hook the alternator back up the positive battery terminal arced and blew the fuse again. So im not sure if it is the charge wire to my alternator or something else electrical. Thanks

Check that fat wire on the back of the generator to see if the plastic insulating washer is cracked or if the terminal is bent and touching the case.

To save on fuses, use a pair of jumper wires to connect a 12 volt light bulb in place of the fuse. A brake light bulb works well. It will be full brightness when the short is still there. When you do something to remove the short, the bulb will go off. Once you find the short and remove it, you can put a new fuse in.
