Slips out of fifth gear when driving

Saab 9.5 aero estate 2001 2.3t. Slips out of fifth gear. But works if holding it in fifth gear when driving. Done 200,000miles. No other problems with noise from gear box or other gears. But alright when held in. No noise from clutch and other four gears alright.

Syncro is bad and will need to be replaced.

Symptom indicates the 5th ger has a fault and it could either be due to something loose and causing excessive free at the synchro hub or the synchro hub is bad.

If you remove the end cover of the transmission, you should be able to check it.
