I have a 2001 pontiac gran am 3.4 litre and my securty light stays on steady once in a while I have to shut car off and restart than goes away there is no type of issues when it is on what causes this?>

Your going to have to get that checked out before you get stranded somewhere it's letting you know there is a problem with your security system.

Well its seems to be on standbye mode I was reading sometimes worn out ignition switch also can cause that is there anything that I can test?

The problem is you would need a expensive advanced scanner to read your body code's and to then do some testing with it. Best to go to a shop and have them read the code's and see what they come up with.
