It was running hot light came on and didn't pull over so pulled up to light and car cut off whats wrong

You have a prob with your cooling system if the car got extremely hot you prob have some major eng probs if not and still runs ok find out why it overheated. Ie. Low coolant from a leaky hose water pump radiator cooling fans not working.
