Do you have battery voltage at the ignition coil with ignition turned on, Black/Red wire?

It does not matter whether the coil is internal (inside distributor) or external. The main thing is that power must be available to it before it cn spark. If there is no battery voltage to the Black/Red, it means ignition battery voltage is not getting to it. Recheck for loose connectors or broken wires.

Apply battery voltage to the wire and test if you have sparks while cranking.
