Hello I have a 2001 Nissan Altima. I was driving home tonight and does accidentally putting your car in reverse shut your car off and make the oil light and battery light come on? Idk if I accidentally put it into reverse or neutral but it didn't make any noise it just died and the lights came on but my headlights and everything were still on
Do you
have the same problem?

Doing this will stall the engine, causing the engine light to come on and not affecting other eclectics, but doing this can seriously damage or even destroy the transmission, if you have no driving problem, all should be ok, but try not to do this again as you may end up with an expensive repair bill.

So putting it in reverse by accident wouldn't cause my oil light and battery light to come on Because I honestly don't know if I put it in reverse or not.

If you selected reverse and stalled the engine all the dash lights will come on. Just like turning on the ignition and not starting the engine.
