I have a 2001 montero limited 4x4 and the C/D lock light flashes and will not trun off but the four wheel drive works correctly and some times when I turn and brake I feal vibration and slight granding sounds from time to time can you tell me what may be the problem and how to fix it
Take it to get the trouble codes pulled. Any Auto Zone or Advance Auto will do this for free.
As far as the grinding noise it could be the heat shield rubbing on the rotor. Check the front brake heat shield for clearnace all the way around the rotor. Keep in mind it needs room to flex as suspension load changes. Also, when you bent it on one side the opposite side bends.

C/D is for Center Differential Lock and is different from 4WD. This locks the front and rear propeller shafts into one and under such circumstances, when making turns on hard ground, the front and rear wheels would be turning at the same speed and cause the vibrations and grinding noise you hear and feel.
Something is wrong with the C/D so you need to have a look at it.
